Frequently Asked Questions
Do you provide gift wrapping?
All my items are wrapped in sustainable tissue and kraft paper and packaged with care. You are able to include a gift message in your purchase which will be handwritten on one of our custom gift cards.
Do you do custom orders?
Yes! I love working with new and existing customers to create their vision and nothing gives me greater pleasure than knowing I’ve produced something personal and special for someone. Creating bespoke products gives me the opportunity to stretch myself and try things I may not have tried otherwise. So from wedding flowers to nursery décor I’m here to help! I am also able to send colour samples if required.
When will I receive my order?
Many of my items are made to order and the current dispatch time is 1-2 weeks. I do have some items in stock though and so if you need your item sooner please do let me know as I can often accommodate this.
My standard postage is second class via Royal Mail and these items are tracked. I am able to provide a tracking number if required. Please do allow a week for delivery once dispatched but if you are then concerned that you have not received your item, please do get in touch. I am able to upgrade postage if required so please just let me know if you need your items quicker.
How much is shipping?
All small businesses hate charging shipping, I charge a flat shipping rate which is based on what it costs me. For full details please refer to the shipping and returns page.
Do you ship internationally?
Yes! For full details please refer to the shipping and returns page.
Do you offer shipping discount or multiple purchase discount?
I don't do this as a standard policy but if you would like to place a larger order then please do get in touch. I offer free delivery within SL6 postcodes as this is my local area.
Do you accept returns?
In the unlikely event that you receive a faulty or damaged item, we do accept returns. Please refer to the shipping and returns page for full details.
How do I care for my items?
Why do you use different types of felt to make different items?
This is based on the type of item I am producing. Garlands are often made using acrylic felt as it is the strongest option and therefore better when being put up and taken down regularly. It is a material that also doesn’t mind a bit of water so is more flexible for temporary decorations such as birthday parties. Wool blend and 100% wool felt is chosen based on colours available and also price point. I would always rather work with 100% wool felt, however some items use an awful lot of felt to create and this would just make them cost prohibitive. If you have a preference over which material I use for your order then please do get in touch and I am happy to talk about a custom order for you.
Talk to me about sustainability?
I am passionate about our planet and I love that my products are as sustainable as possible. My flowers are everlasting and decorations reusable in different rooms and homes. I try to use all the material available to me to make additional items and to minimise waste and I want to encourage my customers to treasure my creations as much as I do for as long as possible!
I run The Felt Studio alongside Little Green Parties, offering reusable party packs and decorations for children’s parties and love that they both work towards having lovely, stylish homes and celebrations without the need to compromise on sustainability. I am happy to donate any scraps that I cannot use to schools and nurseries for use in arts and crafts so get in touch if you would like a bag sent to you!
Can I be sure that the items made in Nepal are fairtrade and sustainable?
Yes! We work with a company that works to ensure that each of these products supports a team of skilled artisans in Nepal, enabling them to live independently with access to safe, discrimination free work with a fair rate of pay. These items are created with sustainability at the heart and are 100% biodegradable.
Do you offer wholesale prices?
Unfortunately this is not something I am currently able to offer. Each item is handmade by me and takes a long time to craft so wholesale is just not an option at the moment.
Who takes your gorgeous photos?
The lovely photos you see here are taken by the amazing Vicky Glanvill. I am so lucky to have such a wonderfully talented friend and honoured that she has taken the majority of my product photos. Check out Vicky at vickyglanvillphotography.co.uk for more of her amazing work. The lesser photos I am afraid are of my own doing!
What’s your hope for future of The Felt Studio?
I want to maintain the personal touch that comes from making every single item by hand – no one item is the same, replicating real life and nature at its most beautiful. I will add to my collections and potentially look to add some non-bespoke items which I will source sustainably and from small suppliers.
